About

Now in its 89th year of operation, the University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Intercollegiate Athletics continues to maintain one of the most competitive and well-balanced sports programs of its size in the country. Fourteen of UMD’s 16 teams — baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball — are members of the 16-member NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey programs, meanwhile, are aligned with the eight-team National Collegiate Hockey Conference (which debuted in 2013-14) and the eight-school Western Collegiate Hockey Association, respectively.
