NOTICE SPRING LOAD RESTRICTIONS NORTH & NORTH CENTRAL ZONE Pursuant to Minnesota Statute § 169.87 and St. Louis County Ordinance No. 13 dated March 13, 1972, spring load restrictions will go into effect on St. Louis County highways, which are located in the North and North-Central Frost Zones, at 12:01 A.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The North Zone includes the area north of US Highway 2 and east of State Highway 33. The North-Central Zone includes the area south of US Highway 2 and west of State Highway 33. A map of St. Louis County highway load restrictions is provided on St. Louis County's website at www.stlouiscountymn.gov/roadrestrictions. Additional information on spring load restrictions and zone boundaries is provided on the Minnesota Department of Transportation's Seasonal Load Limits webpage at www.mndot.gov/loadlimits. School buses, vehicles transporting milk, public and cooperative owned utility vehicles, recycling and garbage trucks, and cargo tank vehicles transporting home heating fuel (propane and fuel oil) are provided special allowances as described in Minnesota Statute § 169.87, Subd. 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Propane and fuel oil suppliers are encouraged to top off their customers' tanks prior to the start of spring load restrictions since their cargo tank vehicles may be overweight on many County roads. Minnesota's Governor Executive Order 23-04 has exempted vehicles used to pump or transport sewage from septic systems from seasonal load restrictions while providing emergency septic system pumping services. Septic pumping service providers are encouraged to pump their customer's septic tanks prior to the start of spring load restrictions as their tanker vehicles may also be overweight on many County roads. Unpaved Roads: Unpaved roads are restricted to five tons per axle. Unpaved roads are typically not posted as Minnesota Statutes governs load restrictions on unpaved roads. Unpaved roads may accommodate higher than the five-ton limitation, only if postings are in place indicating such. Paved Roads: Paved roads that are restricted will be posted with the effective per axle weight restrictions. Paved roads that are not posted remain at 10 tons per axle. Once the spring load restrictions go into effect, they will remain in force until they are lifted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. St. Louis County may extend load restrictions on some County roads based upon their condition. A list will be provided on St. Louis County's website at www.stlouiscountymn. gov/roadrestrictions indicating any County roads that may have extended load restrictions. BY ORDER OF JAMES T.
